Community Center Update
The Lake Cavanaugh Community Center Building Fund is now in Phase 2.

Building Committee Update
How many remember the community center from the 50’s and 60’s that was where the fire hall is now. We would walk the plank across the ditch up the hill to the bedroom sized meeting hall. I remember a few teen dances with the no name local band in the corner and some had to be standing outside to make room for the “dance floor”.
Many remember having lattes at the Cavanaugh store on Saturday and Sunday morning in the 80’s. How many remember hand pumping the gas at the store before we got power in the mid ‘60’s. We bought ice to fill the “ice box” and cooked over the wood stove because we didn’t have electricity.
I would like to say thank you to Moe, Barbara, Warren and others who have pushed for the community center for years. We started as a building committee back in 06 and have been having monthly meetings since. The planning and permitting process took a lot of work by the committee. We broke ground in April 08 and the progress is evident. We are ready to insulate and sheetrock soon. During the winter we can do interior painting and suspended acoustical dropped ceiling if we have enough funds.
We have made steady progress since. Many individual volunteers have helped. Moe is my Co- Volunteer Coordinator/director. We have had many volunteers on a weekly basis. Others come as they can. Read the list.
LCIA has paid for all materials but many contractors have helped. We have had Architectural help from Rob Dibble and Dave Hudacek.
Many contractors have given reduced rates
We have had a great team effort.
I have made many life long friends working on this project. I have been in the general contracting business for almost 40 years. My father and mother bought our lot on the lake 56 years ago in ’53 and we bought our second lot next door in ’75.
My family has had many wonderful years at the lake, just like many other families have had a long tradition.
This community center will last over 50 years or more. I hope it has the same lasting effect on our younger generations as the first center has had on me years ago.
Does any one remember the boat and water ski races around the islands in the ‘50’s? This was equivalent to the fun fest today.
This community center is for our generation and many future generations. Any and all help is appreciated to help finish the center. We need volunteers to help pound nails, to paint, install doors, install exhaust fans, and provide lunches for the volunteers etc.
