Upcoming Fundraising Events
Now, that their is a roof over our head and heat will be inside we can continue to work on the Community Center. We will have “work parties” most weekends. If you have a few hours to volunteer, your help would be most welcomed. We have a great team of volunteers and enjoy working together on this wonderful project. Your donations and support of our fundraising projects is greatly appreciated.
Fundraising Events for the Community Center:
May ??, 2010:
We kick off the year with a Plant Sale at the Community Center on Saturday, May 23rd. We will have beautiful hanging flower baskets, from SummerSun Nursery in Mount Vernon. The price for the baskets will be $30. Pre-orders would be appreciated. Call Barbara at 422-6883. We will also have Dish Gardens, and Herb Gardens for sale. We invite you to bring potted “starts” from your gardens that we can sell at very reasonable prices. The sale will take place immediately following the LCIA meeting.
May ??, 2010:
The Geivett’s, LaSorella’s, Ostenson’s and the McCullough’s will be hosting a Casino Night at 6 p.m. on May 23. Texas Hold’Em will be played at Gumpett’s Garage at 35035 South Shore Drive. $50 admission per person, includes food and drinks, $20 buys you into the game. Prizes will be provided and proceeds will go directly to the Lake Cavanaugh Community Center. Soup Supper at 5 p.m. at the Community Center.
Soup’s On. Come and join us!
Three restaurants in Mount Vernon, “The Empire Ale House”, “Trumpeter Public House” and the “Same Old Grind” will donate their favorite soup or chili. Abblebees and the Olive Garden in Burlington will donate soup and the Big Lake Bar & Grill will donate their wonderful seafood bisque. Home baked rolls and Focaccia bread will be served. Bring your beverage of choice. Minimum donation of $5.00 per serving. Please RSVP Barbara at 422-6883 or email LKCAV@aol.com.

Rummage Sale. Time to sort thru those good reusable items and put them aside for the Rummage Sale. Sharon and Dean Crider will chair this project for us again this year.

Silent Auction 11 a.m. at the Community Center. We would greatly appreciate your donated gift items, services, gift baskets, gift cards, water toys, etc. Please call Barbara Busby, 360 422-6883 or Jo Petterson at 360 422-7136 or 425 488-0958 if you have an item to donate to this project, or if you would like to work on this committee.
July ??, 2010:
6:30 p.m. A “Night of Entertainment” with Tom Bolser. Many will recall what a great time we had last year at this event. Enjoy the music you love to hear. Bring a donation to the Building Fund and come prepared for a good time and dance on the parking lot at the Fire Hall.
August ?, 2010:
“Tour of Homes”, twelve beautiful, unique and charming homes to be viewed at Lake Cavanaugh. The tour will begin at the Community Center at 1 p..m. Admission will be
$20. Refreshments will be served.
We also have plans for a Car Wash and a Boat Parade, dates will be provided soon.
